luce

Can anyone help with a translation for the word "luce" in the description of a handbag. I should stress that the handbag in question does not include any kind of light or torch! I'm wondering if it means the height of the bag from the base to the top of the handles but I'm just guessing! The sentence is: "Doppi manici, altezza (luce) 13 cm"

Discussion

Mailand Jan 13, 2013:
clearance In architecture "luce" would be "clearance", that is the space between two things, but I don't really know it that applies for the handles of a bag - it could make a difference (height or clearance) if the handles are very thick ...
Rachel Fell Jan 13, 2013:
So, height of handles (not from the base of the bag)

- manico in bambù, altezza (luce) 17 cm
- tracolla staccabile, altezza (luce) 48 cm

height

Indeed. It means "clearance".
I'm guessing you can't use the literal translation.
