Russian term

на праве собственности

Russian to English Law/Patents Law (general)
Dear Proz people

Would it be correct to translate the above as 'on the basis of proprietory law'?

It is in the following sentence: 'Земельный участок площадью 41 гектар, на котором расположены производственные мощности Общества, принадлежит ОАО «АКРИХИН» на праве собственности.'

'The company’s production facilities are located at a site occupying 41 hectares which belongs to AKRIKHIN on the basis of proprietory law.'

Thank you

Any of the below answers are fine but it is not freehold.
glazein Jan 8, 2009:
I don't think you can translate it as on the basis of proprietory law because it doesn't say that i.e. "в соответствии с законом о собственности". It just says that the plot is legally owned by the company implying it holds the title.

in ownership / as a freehold

The plot (...) is held in ownership by OAO AKRIKHIN.

Or:

The plot (...) is owned by OAO AKRIKHIN as a freehold

agree Angela Greenfield : freehold - изысканнее звучит, чем просто ownership. :-)

rightfully owned by

thats what I'd say. I think 'на праве собственности' simply means to have a right to own.

neutral Anton Konashenok : "Право собственности" is not the right to own, it's the actual right of ownership (title, that is). // Not really: you may have a specific right to become an owner, but not actually be one. Sometimes this distinction is important.
