Spanish term

entidad

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Finance (general)
related to my last question about "suplidos de corresponsales", the term "entidad" is used extensively, and I am wondering whether I should use the term "bank" (since it is about a bank and transferring money between banks!), or whether I should stick to the rather stiff and imprecise "entity"... what do others think?
The document is for the Ts & Cs of a facility for making bank transfers abroad...

Discussion

AllegroTrans Jul 25, 2007:
or "Institution" or maybe "Organisation"
Richard Jenkins Jul 25, 2007:
Well! In business and financial terms you should be as rigid as possible - stick to entity, just clarifying that you're talking about the bank when it's unclear or necessary. IMHO
John Rawlins Jul 25, 2007:
I don´t think entity works at all in the context. Bank or bank branch.
christopher bolton Jul 25, 2007:
i think you should use it interchangeably

financial institution

The above may also be a possibility, but not entity. If you're 100% certain they mean bank (and entidad is often used to refer to a bank), then use it.

bank

Your choice was good. Other "euphemistic" terms institution, organization, body, etc. In Mexico "entity" is also used for "state". So, if you identify the instances of the word with "bank" is cool. I wouldn't argue against the other transl. previously proposed.
