Change log

Feb 20, 2014 05:21: Maria Mastruzzo changed "Level" from "PRO" to "Non-PRO"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

PRO (1): Cinnamon Nolan

Non-PRO (3): philgoddard, Muriel Vasconcellos, Maria Mastruzzo

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

I think that Kudoz rule is badly worded anyway.

Non-Pro KudoZ rules> this question could be answered by any bilingual person without the aid of a dictionary. WITHOUT a dictionary. Seems to me that many monolingual people wouldn-t know the meaning of the word in their own language. Of course, the answer is readily available and the asker should never have posted the question, but that is a different point.
Joseph Tein Feb 20, 2014:
Oops ... ... posted this to the wrong asker! But ... we can leave it here, also :)

KudoZ guidelines: (Guideline): "Help" KudoZ should be used for requesting terms help only after other resources have been exhausted. Resources available include the KudoZ archives (KudoZ > ProZ.com Term Search from the main menu), dictionaries, search engines, etc. If translations are found elsewhere and the decision to post a KudoZ question is made nevertheless, information found elsewhere should be included, along with an explanation of what further information is sought.
philgoddard Feb 20, 2014:
Yes The very first Google hit is the Spanish Wikipedia article, which links to the English one.

Glycemic Index

The Glycemic Index is a numerical Index that ranks carbohydrates based on their rate of glycemic response (i.e. their conversion to glucose within the human body). Glycemic Index uses a scale of 0 to 100, with higher values given to foods that cause the most rapid rise in blood sugar. Pure glucose serves as a reference point, and is given a Glycemic Index (GI) of 100.
