It would probably be about a translator who randomly trips over a dead body each week and has to solve a murder.

It's not that I'm too snobby ot intellectual to watch TV, but I really don't have much time for it. My personal and professional life portrayed on the small screen would probably be a great antidote for insomnia, but I would watch a show about a translator, especially if it involved some mystery or drama. Maybe a translator who fights crime in his or her spare time I agree with Steven. A little add... View the poll hereA forum topic will appear each time a new poll is run. For more information, see: http://proz.com/topic/33629 In that fascinating film "Truly, Madly, Deeply" the main character was a translator played by Juliet Stevenson and introduced Alan Rickman as her dead lover who comes back to haunt her - (so a bit like Steven's post) - not that the plot had much to do with her work. Anything that alerts the public to the difference between a translator and an interpreter has to be a good thing...
I already did | Jun 13, 2007 |
Although it was more like a family show with the mother being a translator. She was kind of chaotic and had of course lots of time for her husband and her son and her friends ... Those few times when she really had a translation project to finish she screwed it up. She either lost the documents or her computer broke down. It was kind of funny, but I deeply hope that potential clients don't think we all are like this.

Id have to say no. If people would monitor my life for even just one day, they would go and shoot a hole in their heads. Its really that boring....

Yes, ... if it's not the typical USA TV show with pre-recorded laughs which are a lack of respect to audience.

I'm pretty fed up with `Lost'. `Batllestar Galatica', 'The 4400' or `The Desperate Housewives', thank you. I've tried `Numb3rs", but the characater for the mathematician is so silly that I don't think I want to watch a translator/interpreter on my screen. If you want any stupid translator, I am at your service, available via Skype.

I would add that: "Anything that alerts the public to our mere existence has to be a good thing." Sure!
