French term
Rue du Cloître
French to English
Art/Literary
A sa façade rigoureuse d'austérité répond un arrière-plan savant de pilastres cannelés, de volutes, de caissons fleuris et de panneaux moulurés. Rue du Cloître, sur le petit côté du portique, pour lequel on manque singulièrement de recul, Alfieri disposa entre des pilastres jumelés trois registres d’ouvertures qui n’éclairent que l'escalier de l'orgue, mais constituent un motif prestigieux directement inspiré de l'abside de Saint-Pierre de Rome dessinée par Michel-Ange.

It's rather "On cloister street, ..."
Abbey = abbaye
Cloister = cloître
Maybe it's not too late.

Cloister = cloître
Maybe it's not too late.

: You can't translate a place name--nobody would be able to find "Cloister Street"--it wouldn't be on a map of the area, and it wouldn't be on the street signs.

I agree it shouldn't be translated, but why would the asker want a translation ? My answer was at least relevant to the question.

Rue du Cloitre
This street is in Paris near Notre Dame. Street names like are NEVER translated. Especially in this kind of text. Rue de Rivoli, Place de l'Opera, Iguess you could say, Cinquieme Avenue, speaking of Fifth Avenue but you would not translate this.
