English language (monolingual) [PRO]
Social Sciences - International Org/Dev/Coop
English term or phrase: the further quarter
The CCS links to the BMS should be completed by the further quarter of 2023.

Does "the further" here means "the next" or "the last"?

next quarter

Explanation:
I can think of the same expression being used in other languages but in English the correct way would be to phrase it as "in the next quarter, in 2023". This indicates both the next quarter and the fact that the next quarter is in the year 2023.

The next quarter

Explanation:
Obviously it would be 'next quarter' because further can never be used as 'last' in any sense.
