French term

pubalgie

French to English Other Sports / Fitness / Recreation Injury

Termcat offers "pubalgia", but I haven't found anything reliable to back it up.

groin strain

I'm pretty sure this is what's being referred to. Common among sportsmen (and painful I'm sure)

Or \"groin pain\"

After a bit of Googling I also found the term \"sports hernia\" as a synonym for \"athletic pubalgia\":

Sports Hernia
What is a sports hernia?
A sports hernia, also known as athletic pubalgia, is a tear in the muscles of the lower abdomen. It causes pain in the lower abdomen or groin.

Men get athletic pubalgia more commonly than women.

agree writeaway : since it does not seem to be in a medical context, the everyday term is better imho

agree Paul Lambert : yes - agree with writeaway - as it isn't in a medical context, groin strain would be better. and yes - it is painful!!!
