ORL or ENT

In French, it is the abbreviation of oto-rhino-laryngologie, in English - otorhinolaryngology. Also ENT - ears-nose-throat.

neutral Josephine Billet : ORL is rarely used in English speaking countries - all sites in google with this term were foreign sites, ENT is far more commonly used: Fair enough ORL clearly is used in the US, but Google returns many more hits for ENT than ORL: in UK its always ENT

I don't know aboutother countries, but having had many visits to the ORL in the US with my kids, (tubes in all their ears) I never came across ENT in writiing or in conversation with doctors or anyone else for that matter.ENT is at acronym.com
agree Richard Benham : I think ENT is more common, as Josephine says, but ORL is definitely also a goer.

Thanks, Richard.
