PS Andreina, I think you\'ve muisunderstood the text in your link - I looked at it and what it actually says is that roof rails are factory-fitted - i.e. come complete with the car when you purchase it. They are not built into the roof itself (like tracks, which are grooves in the roof), but are separate structures applied to it. Nonetheless, they cannot usually be removed. The photo clearly shows the roof rails (the longitidinal bars, fitted with a removable roof bar kit. I\'ve never heard of optional roof bars - it\'s the kits for fitting to them that are optional.

Roof rails are usually fitted as standard (if you do a Google search for \"optional roof rails you\'ll find just 7 hits with the exact term, none of which are for off-road vehicles.

It seems more likely to me that these are the usual fixed rails running along the length of the roof, as featured in the majority of estate cars and jeeps. In Italian the name used by manufacturers and car magazines is \"BARRE PORTATUTTO\". And even if they should be optional or removable, the same name is still used :-)

As you can see, they\'re sometimes called \"barre portatutto longitudinali\"/\"barre portatutto a lunghezza piena\" - obviously to distinguish them from a roof rack, which has crosswise bars.
