French term

Visite spécialiste

French to English Medical Medical (general)
From a document concerning costs for a clinical trial:

Visite spécialiste (en routine tous les mois pendant la période de traitement, en période post traitement suivi à 1 mois, 3 mois, 6 mois et 1 an)

Perhaps this is as simple as "specialist visit", but so far this is difficult to confirm.
Change log

Oct 7, 2013 17:47: liz askew changed "Edited KOG entry" from "<a href="/profile/41756">Scott de Lesseps's</a> old entry - "Visite spécialiste "" to ""visit to a specialist""

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (2): Catharine Cellier-Smart, Yvonne Gallagher

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Sheri P Oct 2, 2013:
Target audience? Is this for the US? "Consultant" is not used here the same way it is in the UK.

examination by a specialist

"Visite" can mean either "examination" or "visit" depending on the context
Peer comment(s):

neutral B D Finch : One avoids that dilemma by using an equally imprecise word in English, i.e. "consultation" or "check-up". "Examination" is over-translation, as the "visite" might not always include an examination.
