Discussion

Frauke Schroeder Aug 31, 2007:
I meant to say: a far way
Frauke Schroeder Aug 31, 2007:
oh and something else. Religion has come a far away in Germany, nowadays Mass and Service is the same: Gottesdienst. And often, particularly in the East, the Services are hold for both communities jointly.
Frauke Schroeder Aug 31, 2007:
Hello Ken, of course there are services on different days of the week. That's not unusual. It is quite common everywhere in Europe in fact.
Ken Cox Aug 31, 2007:
How can you claim that no context is available and then say 'Thank you for idea, but this kind of church mass actually is on Saturdays. And yet, this is Europe (Germany).' ???

children's service

The logical answer.

I think this is what was said in our NY church in my childhood. It was a short part of the service for children, though it might have been the "children's word"

Well, I was wrong, it's called the "Children's Lesson" at my former church:

Peer comment(s):

agree Rachel Ward : Googling "children's service" gets too many social services type hits to check, but I'm sure this is a good option. You also get "all-age services" if there are adults there too.

agree Nicole Schnell : W/ Rachel.

agree Julia Michel : Been involved in child and youth ministries in the US, and that's what I would call it, regardless of the day of the week it's on

agree Frauke Schroeder : a definite YES

agree Armorel Young : the straightforward, literal translation - no reason to use anything else

At least in US Christian churches

In that case, consider: children's Bible classes or children's Bible lessons
Note from asker:
Thank you for idea, but this kind of church mass actually is on Saturdays. And yet, this is Europe (Germany). The sentence should sound like "Every Saturday there is a ????????? at 15:00.
Peer comment(s):

disagree AllegroTrans : no it is simply a service - a Sunday School is an Institution, or at least a teaching class attached to a church///it has nothing to do with whether I am happy, it's all about quality of translation

Frankly, I see no point in this disagree at this juncture, but if it makes you happy . . .

Children's Mass

if the church you have not identified is Catholic.
Children's Church Service might work for a Protestant church.

It depends upon whether this is a Mass/service or an educational/school/youth program.
Saturday Church School, Saturday confirmation classes, Young Christian Fellowship Meeting, etc.

Unless you tell us the denomination, we're throwing darts.
Peer comment(s):

neutral AllegroTrans : throwing darts as you say yourself. so "children's service" cannot be wrong
