Italian term
presidio centro nord
Italian to English
Bus/Financial
Business/Commerce (general)
Document title: Struttura territoriale
Sub-heading: Struttura periferica
Followed by: Presidio Nord Ovest, Presidio Nord Est, Presidio Centro Nord, etc.
Having problems with "presidio", especially when associated with "centro nord" and "centro sud".
There is an existing glossary entries which in this context translates "presidio" as "facilities" but I'm wondering if anyone has any other ideas?

You can't translate presidio without a precise idea of the context Ivana

With no further context, you're in the dark. For instance "presidio del rischio" is risk management, or in a different place in the same text "monitoring risk". No point in putting this in the glossary. I imagine its an agency and you have no contact with the client.

I'm in the same boat. Buon lavoro as they say in Milan, which I translate into "Don't overdo it!"

Note from asker:
Yes - it's through an agency so I've highlighted possible meanings in a translator note so that the agency can ask the client for clarification. Hope you have a good week-end (I'm working so not much chance of that)! |

Central north (business) facility with/proposing a 24 hour on call service
Hi Ivana,
Presidio means there is a 24 hour coverage so business facility is fine.
You might want to check out synonyms for facility here:

in case there's a term you like more

James (Jim) Davis
: presidio just means coverage of some sort. Only 24 our if specified as such

: presidio is like a garrison who is always awake and on duty. But also used for "commitees in charge". You can say perhaps "commitee of northwest terriories".

Area office for Central North
Our company is divided into territories with area offices. Just an option, but it does rather depend on context.
Otherwise, perhaps Central North services?
Or even...just Central North.
Best regards, Claire

Central north
If no further context is given, it may be acceptable just to state central north, central south, etc. without specifying anything for presidio. In my opinion, considering that your subject matter is the territorial structure of a company it could be either sales area or branch.
Example sentence:
Central north sales area
Central north branch
