French term

Production exécutive

French to English Art/Literary Cinema, Film, TV, Drama Film
Bonjour,

Allegro refused to accept that a production manager is a person (in their disagreement against my answer).

Line producer part: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CutWL8Al61E&t=477s
Samuël Buysschaert Jun 26, 2021:
There is also this possibility, (UPM) Production Manager and line producer work closely together and on smaller budget projects they are often the same person.

To be safe, i'd simply put production and then line producer XX if you are not sure.
If the client doesn't use anglicism it's the safest way to express it imo.

Just an idea, wouldn't production be enough? if needed to be sure write production: line producer XX
Usually i'm thinking of closing credits it goes generally as follows: https://www.masterclass.com/articles/how-to-order-movie-cred...

executive producer is listed
line producer is usually listed in producers
associate producer is listed
co-producer is listed
production manager is listed too
Production accountant, Production manager, Production coordinator, Production secretary & Production runner or production assistant or production trainee are listed under executive producer in production department.
Can't think of more "production" in a movie.
Kim Delaunay (asker) Jun 26, 2021:
Yes I agree with you for Executive Production. It is "Production exécutive" that is a bit tricky here. Thanks again for your kind help. I have asked my client, she is doing some research too :-)
Conor McAuley Jun 26, 2021:
Thanks for the extra context. It's always best to post as much context about your question the first time around.

Without looking further into the question and without in-depth knowledge of the film industry, I would advise using the term "Creative Production/Executive Production" for "Production Déléguée".
Otherwise, as a common-sense approach, just run an internet search for the person/company doing the "production déléguée" and see how he/she/it defines themselves...unless it's Canal+ or France Télévisions or the like...

This should help:

Kim Delaunay (asker) Jun 26, 2021:
Thank you Conor! Actually, the contract does make a difference between "production exécutive" and "production déléguée", which is the problem for me 🤔
Conor McAuley Jun 26, 2021:
These things are gradually getting anglicised in French, I'm afraid, calqued off the English.

For example, "J'étais affecté par la mort de..." is quite common now, and lots of other unfortunate developments (in my opinion), the verb "checker" in football for VAR checks, etc.
Kim Delaunay (asker) Jun 26, 2021:
Thank you! But I'm not sure about executive production, as executive producer = producteur délégué.

"If the area is film, TV, etc." With virtually no context, what else can you do? / Actually I apologise to the Asker: "Cinema, Film, TV, Drama / Film" in header line. / More complicated than it first looked alright!
agree philgoddard : Line producer appears to be producteur de ligne.

line production

Exemple:
"Cactus Films – FPS France is fully dedicated to line production services."
https://filmproductionservices.fr/?page_id=19080

On a l'équivalent en EN
https://famousstudios.com/line-production/

"We offer full line production services for your film production."

Cf. discussion pour plus d'informations.

Production is a noun, and when it occurs in a description of working duties it carries another noun such as manager, director, executive or assistant. Production managers, directors, executives and assistants are, each one, a person.
Example sentence:

Peer comment(s):

disagree AllegroTrans : Read the term again; it clearly is not a person because "production" is a noun. Basic French.
