ECP

English Other Geography
This acronym is used in the text to refer to a region, or a group of countries, which seems to include Canada and a number of European countries. Other acronyms mentioned in the same table are LATAM, for Latin America, and MART, for Middle East, Africa, Russia and Turkey. So what does ECP stand for in this context?

@ Yvonne Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I was planning to select Clawwolf's answer and acknowledge the rest, but by the time I came to do this the answer was hidden. I will go ahead and close without selecting then, and will ack all who helped.
Yvonne Gallagher Oct 31, 2020:
I should have said that, of course, it's also OK to post an answer if no one who has given the answer in the Dbox wishes to post but it's common courtesy to acknowledge that the correct answer has already been given by [...]. The right answer was posted and then hidden?
Yvonne Gallagher Oct 31, 2020:
@ Asker Quite OK to ask someone to post an answer from Dbox although it's also quite OK to close a question with "Answer found elsewhere" and specify that this is the answer. In this case ael was first with the right answer so they should really be given the option of posting. And all the Ghits refer to the same company, which I won't mention here.

Annswer @ Althea If Althea had posted her comment as an answer, it would have deserved the points. I hope it wouldn't be against the rules if ask her to do so. This way I would not have to close the question without selecting an answer.

Ask the client @ Sergio Thanks. It is a large text, so I usually group questions/comments and send them in batches. Then the client will probably direct them to their client. So, in the mean time, I research and try to limit questions to unsolvable ones.
Alaa Zeineldine (asker) Oct 30, 2020:
Canada and Europe included The text in the document under the ECP category refers to Canada and Europe. So that's not a guess. What I am trying to ascertain is the expanded acronym, because I will translate that into Arabic. Thanks @Althea and @Taña, your results definitely help.
Taña Dalglish Oct 30, 2020:
@ Althea Good find BTW (suggested by ael earlier). Agree that ECP may very well be "Europe, Canada and Partner Markets" (https://theorg.com/org/biogen/team/johanna-friedl-naderer), which seems to support the Asker's theory that Canada is included, although its usage appears mostly on job market sites! Anyway, again good find. Regards. Stay safe!
Althea Draper Oct 30, 2020:
Here's a link to a recruitment site where it lists jobs in the MART and ECP regions in the jobs list on the left (along with what they stand for).
https://www.simplyhired.ch/search?q=global medical affairs l...

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) TA Medical Lead, Middle East, Africa, Russia/CIS & Turkey (MART)
TA Pipeline Lead, Europe, Canada & Partner Markets (ECP)

This job shows LAS (Latin America South) as being a part of LATAM
https://jobs.smartrecruiters.com/Biogen/743999712612322-mana...

They are all acronyms used by the same company. If you look at the recruitment section on their website, you also get the choice of APAC for Asia Pacific.
Taña Dalglish Oct 30, 2020:
@ Alaa An error perhaps, and rather than "ECP", it may be "ACP"? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organisation_of_African,_Carib...
The Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) is a group of countries in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific that was created by the Georgetown Agreement in 1975. Formerly known as **African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP)***, ...
Sergio Carré Oct 30, 2020:
Ask the client You should ask the client, given that you can't really find the meaning from internet searches.
ael Oct 30, 2020:
I think your original guess was correct. I've found a few different hits for ECP as "Europe, Canada & Partner Markets"
philgoddard Oct 30, 2020:
My guess Ecuador, Colombia, Peru. Are you sure the C is Canada?
Alaa Zeineldine (asker) Oct 30, 2020:
One search result The only result I got from my searches is "Europe, Canada and Partners", which was mentioned in only one result. Without corroboration by other sources, I didn't trust it enough to go with it.

disagree Taña Dalglish : https://www.proclinical.com/job/field-medical-strategy-and-e... ECP > does not include the Pacific. It is Partner Markets; the Pacific is under the "ACP Group".

"An acronym is a word formed by combining the initial letters of a multi-part name, such as NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) or by combining the initial letters or parts of a series of words."
Peer comment(s):

disagree Tony M : None of these make sense at all in Asker's well-explained context

disagree Bashiqa : Not in this context.

disagree philgoddard : Apart from being ridiculous, this isn't even correct. The abbreviation for the committee is CPT.

disagree Yvonne Gallagher : Not the context for any of these

disagree AllegroTrans : Asker clearly says it's a group of countries and I don't think we need to be taught what an acronym is
