German term

gegenüber Umgebungsdruck

German to English Tech/Engineering Engineering: Industrial zero offset adjustment

Discussion

Oliver Walter Jun 2, 2010:
Negative pressure I think it's OK to write "negative pressure", provided it is defined (as in this case) relative to some positive absolute pressure. The one mentioned here (relative to ambient) is also called "gauge pressure". I think Bernd knew that when he signed off: ;-) . This is analogous to the assertion I remember we often told each other at school: "There is no such thing as suction".

relative to ambient pressure

The output signal then corresponds directly to the positive or negative pressure relative to ambient pressure.

agree Oliver Walter : Yes, that's what it means

agree Bernd Runge : There is no such thing as negative pressure, is there? It can be zero - but that's about it ;-)
