Italian term

t/h

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Energy / Power Generation
I understand the t as ton but what is the h

trattare 10.000 Nm3 t/h di fumi per separare 2,5 t/h di CO2

Discussion

Gian Dec 29, 2010:
In UK long ton = 2,240 libbre = 1016 kg e in USA long ton = 2000 libbre= 907,18 kg. Quindi è scorretto, in questo caso, definire t come ton !!!
mediamatrix (X) Dec 17, 2010:
Summarising... t/h is clearly 'to(ne)s per hour'.
The phrase "trattare 10.000 Nm3 t/h di fumi .." should read "trattare 10.000 Nm3/h di fumi .." where Nm3 is cubic metres of smoke at standard temp and pressure. The entire phrase thus tells us they're getting 2.5 tons of CO2 from 10 thousand 'normalized' cubic metres of smoke in each hour of operation.
James (Jim) Davis Dec 17, 2010:
You've convinced me The mistake could be the T:
http://www.google.it/search?hl=it&q="Nm3/h"&aq=f&aqi=g4&aql=...
Nanometres might make sense if we are talking about particles in the smoke.
At school in England and generally in England today and hour is always hr.
Gian Dec 17, 2010:
t = tonne t è il simbolo dell'unità di massa uguale a 1000 kg (vedere ISO 1000)
L'unità per esteso si scrive "tonne" e non va confusa con ton (imperial o US) di cui ho dato spiegazione
Gian Dec 17, 2010:
Standard Se usano il Nm³ è chiaro che usano il metrico (meglio dire le unità SI)
Gian Dec 17, 2010:
Nm Comment for Jim
nano has a symbol "n" not "N"
See my explanation for Nm³
Other comment
trattare 10.000 Nm3 t/h di fumi per separare 2,5 t/h di CO2;
I believe that after Nm³ there shouldn't be t/h
Nm³ is a volume and t/h is a flow (mass/time)
James (Jim) Davis Dec 17, 2010:
Nm This is not 10,000 tons per hour, but 10,000 cubic nanometres per ton per hour.

While I am fairly sure that you are all right, I do have nagging sensation that the H must refer to somehting else as I can't conceive of 10,000 tons of gases being treated in an hour in a power plant!!!

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "First of all, all of the answers suggested were correct. In the end I concluded that there was indeed an error and the t in the n3 t should not have been there. "

t/h or tonne/hour or metric ton/h

h =hour

Both tonne and h are SI units as per ISO 1000

Grazie mille
agree Jennifer Levey : tonne/hour is easy - the important thing you've got right here is Nm3.
