Discussion

Andrew Vdovin Jul 25, 2005:
Heres a nice riddle about time from J.R.R.Tolkien:
This thing all things devours: Birds, beasts, trees, flowers; Gnaws iron, bites steel; Grinds hard stones to meal; Slays king, ruins town, And beats high mountain down.

Time, like water, wears away stone.

A verse of a hymn runs:

Time, like an ever rolling stream, bears all its sons away.
They fly forgotten, as a dream dies at the opening day.

It's based on Psalm 90 (Lord though hast been our refuge).
