Always Apr 30, 2025

Apart from Christmas Day and New Year's Day I consider every holiday to be a normal working day, unless it falls in the weekend.

Bank holidays or school holidays? May 1, 2025

It depends ... I rarely work on bank holidays but most of the time during school holidays, including the summer holidays. On the other hand, I plan leisure, social activities and private errands on business days, working around 30 hours in regular weeks with bouts up to 45 hours when it's really busy.

Labor Day May 1, 2025

The question is probably about today, the Labor Day, where most of the people around the world don't work and we shouldn't too.

Anyway, today is Labor Day, included under general holidays. And these polls about holidays are always before some holiday, and that's what I'm saying.
There was one poll before Christmas, like 5 months ago.

I sometimes work over secular holidays May 1, 2025

As a freelancer who works alone, I regard holidays as important occasions to meet people and see my family. I observe the Christian holidays as most people probably observe the holidays (holy days) that go with their religion.

Summer holidays and bank holidays are different. When my husband had to take his holiday in the Danish industrial summer holiday, I did too, as that was our chance to visit the family in the UK. It is earlier than many people's holidays in the UK, and for vari

Summer holidays and bank holidays are different. When my husband had to take his holiday in the Danish industrial summer holiday, I did too, as that was our chance to visit the family in the UK. It is earlier than many people's holidays in the UK, and for various reasons we tend to stay at home now - and I work if there is any work - during those weeks.

It is the freelancer's privilege to take holidays when it suits family life and other considerations. Working when others take time off has given me some good clients, but clients may go back to their regular translator as soon as he/she is back. It is important to take a break, but it is also important to fit in with life around you and break the isolation of working at home.

if Needed! May 1, 2025

I tell all clients who ask, that I can work through Xmas holiday, Easter Weekend. If it's not a holiday in their country, like a long weekend here, I'm fine working.

Some holidays are holier than others May 2, 2025

When I was active, only two holidays were sacred: Christmas and the American Thanksgiving holiday, mainly because they involved family activities and required my participation in meal preparation. Taking time off during American bank holidays was purely coincidental and depended on the weather. Whether I worked on weekends was also dependent on the weather, since my deadlines were generally relatively flexible.
