Italian term

torroncini di pasta reale

Italian to English Social Sciences Cooking / Culinary
From a tourist article about cuisine of Frosinone:

Interessantissimi i dolci di pasta di mandorle (come i torroncini di pasta reale), specie nelle zone di montagna...

I will probably leave "torroncini" in Italian, although I might put "nougat" in parentheses.

However, I am stumped by "pasta reale". I take it this is also almond paste, but I would like to use the exact term if possible.

Thanks!

Discussion

simon tanner Jan 24, 2008:
In some parts of Sicily pasta reale is also made with hazelnuts, and is used to make crunchy biscuits, but here it is clearly almonds. Also here they may be hard or soft, though - in Sicily we have brittle crunchy torroncini and the normal soft nougats

La risposta non la so, ma mi è venuta l'acquolina solo a leggere il titolo della kudoz. Ti mandano anche qualche campioncino, oltre al testo da tradurre? :-)
