Durante il funzionamento, l’operatività della macchina è garantita dall’emissione della potenza ottica del fascio laser. Tale emissione è soggetta ad oscillazioni legate a gradienti termici ambientali a cui è sottoposta la sorgente laser.
E’ buona norma cominciare la lavorazione produttiva dopo che la sorgente laser abbia raggiunto la temperatura nominale di esercizio.

I think this can be expressed much more simply in English. You could even leave out "durante il funzionamento", which basically means "when switched on" and goes without saying.
