nothing required in English

Whereas in Spanish it is customary to put "XYZ por sus siglas en inglés", in English we simply put the abbreviation of the Spanish (or French, German or whatever language) term without any explanation. IOW, we give readers credit for realising that the abbreviation is of the foreign-language term.

--> "National Council for ...... (CONAFE)"

... by its acronym in Spanish...

In fact, the question is not that clear, but it seems to want to say something like:

The National Council for Education Development, known by its acronym in Spanish (CONAFE)...
Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : I agree that the question was rather difficult to understand! You could make it one word shorter by saying "by its Spanish acronym".

Thank you, quite right: most reasonable people would accept that. However, I've run into quite a few nitpickers who argue that, when functioning as an adjective, "Spanish" may indicate either a nationality or a language ;-)

Sorry for the TYPO: "By its...etc." :))
Peer comment(s):

neutral Jennifer Levey : It would be unkind to disagree with you twice in the same question, so I'll be neutral this time :) Neither 'according to' nor 'by' sound natural in this context; 'from' might be OK if Asker really insists on translating the expression.
